A Challenge For You Negative Thinkers...

I am sitting here in a quiet house, cup of hot tea and trying to get motivated to start my day. The news is on in the background...#1 big mistake! All I am hearing is how horrible the economy is, how the housing market is at an all time low with no recovery anytime soon. ENOUGH!!! I need to hear some positive thinking!!!!

I feel we are having an emergency here and someone has to stop the madness. How do you think our economy gets into a down slide? Someone somewhere has to start talking about how bad it is going to be and then they tell someone else and so and so until they make it true. These things get spread though the news, articles and yes by word of mouth. That kind of fear is contagious, it spreads like a virus.

I want you to take a moment and think about this if we have the power to make things bad then we also have the same power to make things good. It can't work any other way. The opposite of negative thinking is positive thinking.  If you are complaining that no one is buying and your business is on a down slide because of all the fears out there, the opposite would be you have more than enough clients and people will always buy from you because what you offer is something of value that they need.

What you just did there is change your perspective to positive thinking. When you do business and go out into the world you are creating a positive energy and that feeling and attitude will spread to other people as well. This should be used in all aspects in your life no matter if you are doing business or in your personal life.

People in general want to be around other people that are happy and feel good about themselves and life. Remember that the next time you are talking about how bad it is out there and wondering why it affects some people and not others.  Are you telling people you come in contact with all the gloom you read in the paper or heard on the news? If so this is where you want to turn that around and start doing the opposite!

SOOOOOO....I am going to challenge each and every one of you to go out there and create some positive thinking and energy!! Make some phone calls. Send a handwritten note. Make your business a priority and  THINK AND ACT IN A POSITIVE, POSITIVE, POSITIVE WAY!

Diane - I turned my TV off for 2009 and didn't hook it up again til time for the Olympics this year.  You have to do whatever it takes to stay positive.

Good Morning Diane, we do have the power to make things good and we will!  Great post!

I agree! Stay positive! That's what we have to do in order to see this through to the other side!

Great post Diane.  I need to be reminded and remind myself of this quite often.  I will have a cup of coffee and get my attitude turned in the right direction.

I have stopped watching the news years ago because out of an entire broadcast I would be lucky to catch one positive thing they could find to talk about. I also have had to limit time I spend with certain friends due to their negativity. I chose to live my life looking at the glass FULL! Surround yourself with positive energy and plan on spreading it around!

Back away from the television, back far away!  LOL!  I was talking with someone last night about this very thing....what really blows my mind is people on AR blogging about doom and gloom.  I just don't get it.  Hope yours is a splendid day!

Diane, this post deserves a yellow star for sure. I for one don't watch television, haven't had cable since 2005 (a conscious choice we made when we started having children) and never have missed! Dont' get me wrong, I have a tv and watch movies all the time or play games but for news and information, I'm on-line, somehow the negative impact isn't as extreme because I CHOSE very carefully which articles to read.

As to the bad news and the economy and all that, the best way to counteract that is to do exactly what you suggested...get into action! Pick up the phone and call one of your best past clients, just chat, don't ask for business. Send 3 personal-handwritten notes to friends or family (I just did that this morning) and last but not least, GET OUT of the office, go socialize - you'd be amazed how quickly things begin to look and feel brighter.

I totally agree with you.  That is why I took the challenge with the Denver Post where I pledged to help 10 Realtors to earn $35,000 in addition to their real estate commissions in the next 90 days.  Could use your positive energy...

Diane, This is just the positivity I needed today to get me going!  Thank you, thank you!

Diane - I'm with you.  If we as a country don't start taking the high road and talking about what is good and working then we all deserve what we get.  What we need to restore is optimism, period.  It works.

I'm with you!  Thanks for the great post, the glass is at least half full over here!  I am all for the restoration of optimism, MB, negative media has been a bad thing.
