Almost Pumpkin Picking Time and I can't wait!

One of our favorite things to do in North Alabama in the Fall is go to Tate Farms! It is a MUST for any family. They will be opening their doors on September 27, 2010!!!!

Tate Farms

Tate Farms is located just North of Huntsville, Alabama. They have an unbelievable 60 acres of pumpkins, barnyard playground, petting zoo, a Country Store (that sells unbelievable Fall flowers and decorations) and lots more. Tate Farms Cotton Pickin' Pumpkins is one of the largest farming operations in Northern Alabama, with more than 5,000 acres of crop land.

They have a wonderful hayride into the pumpkin "patch" with a driver that teaches you things you had no idea about. They also have farm animals in their petting area and they teach the kids about all of them. When you are done with all that, let the kids burn off some energy in the barnyard playground (the corn jump thing is a huge popular things for the kids to do). All of my kids have gone to the Tate Farms Cotton Pickin' Pumpkins on field trips with Farley School. Yes, I make sure I am the one that goes on that field trip~I LOVE IT! The kids get to learn so much and then pick a pumpkin to take home!

For those of you who are going to take your kids, they offer a great food selection as well. They have hotdogs, hamburgers, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, BBQ sandwiches, pumpkin sippies and pumpkin slushes. Saturdays, they have fudge puppies on a stick, roasted corn, or tasty funnel cakes.

If you are looking for something special for that Birthday party, why not try here. I be the kids (and parents) would have a ball!

If you have any questions call them: (256) 828-8288.  Their hours are as follows:

September 27-October 30

Monday-Friday 2-6pm

Saturday 9am-6pm

Closed Sundays

I wish I lived close enough to visit Tate Farms.  This is a great local post!

One of our local orchards plants a large cornfield just so they can then turn it into a maze during "pumpkin time."

Choosing a pumpkin for fall and Halloween is always great fun.  Sounds like you have a fun place to find one in your area.

I just drove by a display of pumpkins, gourds and pretty and colorful!  I wish we could have Fall and skip Winter.  I have a feeling it's going to be a cold one this year!

There is a pumpkin patch like that in our area as well. It is so much fun to see the kids get so excited with all of the pumpkins and hay rides. The petting zoo is always full of friendly animals and of course, the few goats that will gnaw on your clothes!
